Sydnee Sherlock

Supervised Intern

Education: I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at Chaminade University of Honolulu, with an anticipated graduation date of June 2027.

Experience: My path to becoming a therapist began with a love for connecting with people. I spent many years in customer service, where I had the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life. I realized that what I loved most was listening to people's stories, getting to know them, and being someone they felt comfortable talking to. Those experiences eventually led me to pursue becoming a therapist. More recently, I worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supporting children on the autism spectrum, where I discovered just how meaningful and rewarding it is for me to connect with children and support their growth.

Beliefs: I believe everyone has their own journey and a story worth listening to. We are all shaped by many layers, including our experiences, relationships, families, cultures, environments, and circumstances. I believe understanding those layers can help us better understand ourselves. I strive to create a space where clients feel safe to be themselves, share their stories, and feel heard without judgment. Being able to make a difference in someone's life is what makes this work so meaningful to me.

Approach: My therapeutic approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and attachment. I believe it is important to understand not only what is happening on the surface, but also the emotions, needs, and patterns underneath. I hope to help clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships while building stronger, more secure connections. When working with children, I take a child-centered approach and incorporate play-based techniques, creativity, and imagination to enter their world and better understand how they experience and make sense of the world around them.

Clients: I enjoy working with children, adults, couples, and families. I welcome clients navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, or those seeking greater self-understanding and insight into the patterns in their lives and relationships.
