Child Play and Talk Therapy

Assessments

We offer comprehensive mental status examinations and mental health assessments. We understand that every child is different and we believe in individualized treatment plans to fully capture all of the unique needs of each child. We like to make our assessments enjoyable for the child by incorporating art and games into the process!

Play Therapy

Note that PRCC does not offer certified child play therapy. Families seeking play therapy are encouraged to contact a local, certified play therapy center.

At PRCC we use play to help children understand their own inner life, and we use it to interpret what children may be feeling but may be unable to put into words. Unlike adults, children aren’t able to sit down and verbally communicate what they’re having trouble with. Instead, they express themselves through play. Our Keiki rom is set up with toys and art supplies and PRCC therapists use these to help understand and support your child.

Parent- Child Interaction Therapy

We understand that when children act out, it can impact the whole family and leave parents feeling frustrated, hurt, and confused. We offer Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, a 15- 20-session intervention that is proven to decrease oppositional behavior (good-bye temper tantrums!) and strengthen the parent child relationship (hello family cohesion!). This type of therapy can be tailored to include multiple children and in some cases, the entire family system.
