Beliefs: We are storytelling and meaning-making beings. I hold the conviction that every individual yearns for connection, a sense of belonging, acceptance, and the desire to be understood and cared for. I believe change is inevitable and that given the right conditions, people can experience remarkable personal growth. I am a strong advocate for the idea that we shape our identities through the stories we create and the meanings we attribute to the events and actions in our lives. Emotions, in my view, serve as our guides, influencing our perceptions, beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors. By embracing and understanding our emotions, by truly listening to their messages, we can discover our genuine needs and desires which will help give clarity and congruency to the many stories we each carry within us.
Â
Approach: In my therapeutic practice, I emphasize collaboration and equality, with an understanding that you are the expert of your own life and that I am there as a curious, non-blaming, and respectful fellow traveler. I view individuals through a systemic and contextual lens that is firmed rooted the humanistic ideals of compassion, authenticity, and empathy. I firmly believe that one's self-narrative and thus identity is inseparable from their social, cultural, political, and historical context. This awareness of context enriches our capacity for empathy, and empathy, coupled with humility, enables us to uncover deeper insights about ourselves while sculpting narratives that are complex and rich in meaning.
Â
