David Sanders, MFT-I
Pre-Licensed Therapist - Supervised
Education: I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Psychology from San Diego State University. Currently, I am pursuing my Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. Additionally, I am proud to be an ERYT-500 certified yoga instructor and a licensed massage therapist (LMT) here in the beautiful surroundings of Hawaii.
Â
Experience: With over two decades of experience, my journey has been a fascinating blend of professional domains. I initially began my career in computer science, where I contributed to various projects, including the development of a software package for human resource recruiters that went public in 2000. After a successful stint in the corporate world, I chose to retire and return to my true passions: yoga, meditation, and holistic well-being. I obtained my initial yoga certification in 2003 and have since worked closely with individuals from diverse backgrounds who have found solace and growth through the practice of meditation.
Â
Beliefs: I share the belief of our founder that every person is born perfect, and life challenges us to evolve, love and accept ourselves, and care for one another. It is our birthright to enjoy a state of health, wholeness, and happiness. I firmly believe that positive therapeutic outcomes stem from fostering a collaborative and cooperative relationship with our therapist. This connection, though sometimes challenging to establish, is always accessible. I have unwavering faith in the human capacity for healing and flourishing, recognizing that many of us carry burdens that shape our journey. In line with the age-old adage, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger."
Â
Approach: As a family systems therapist candidate, I specialize in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative (NT), and solution-focused (SFT) modalities. My approach is rooted in strengths-based principles, emphasizing your inherent resilience. In my role as a therapist, I listen attentively, mirror your experiences, and guide you on a path to self-discovery. You are the expert in your own life, and my role is to support your journey.
Â
Clients: I work with a diverse range of clients, including couples, teenagers, and individuals aged 18 and above. I am an advocate for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their unique needs, welcoming clients from all religious backgrounds. My practice embodies body-positivity, and I am here to support individuals of all ages and stages in their life journey.
Â
