Alexis Aguilar

Intern - Supervised

Education: I am a dedicated professional currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Counseling

Psychology from Chaminade University, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. A graduate of

Mililani High School, I completed my undergraduate studies at SUNY Cortland, earning a Bachelor of

Science in Biology with a minor in Anthropology.

Experience: After their undergraduate studies, I embarked on a career in Ocean and Marine Education,

where I gained hands-on experience in animal husbandry, underwater photography, and scuba diving.

While this career was fulfilling in many ways, financial instability led me to transition into the

construction industry. Over seven years, I advanced from an administrative assistant to roles such as

field coordinator and project engineer. Despite the financial security provided by this career, a pivotal

moment of introspection led to the realization that my true passion lay in helping others. This led my

career to psychology, working with adolescents and adults in their own lifelong journey.

Belief: Driven by a belief that the only constant in life is change, I am committed to lifelong learning,

growth, and personal improvement. This philosophy fuels my curiosity about diverse religions and

spiritualities, and my dedication to remaining open and flexible to all perspectives.

Approach: In my therapeutic approach, Solution-Focused and Internal Family Systems (IFS) models

resonate deeply with me, emphasizing the power of language and addressing the internal conflicts

within individuals. I believe that through small, intentional steps, lasting and meaningful change can be

achieved.

Clients: I am a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ individuals and practice culturally sensitive,

trauma-informed care. I am committed to supporting a diverse range of clients, offering counseling

services in English, and fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
